About hearing instruments
One hearing instrument or two?
Why do people have two ears? This makes it possible for us to determine where sounds are coming from, and from what distance. Remember that your brain does the hearing. To interpret sound correctly the information send to the brain must be as detailed and correct as possible.
What are the benefits of wearing 2 hearing instruments?
Speech sounds are clearer
Communicate with confidence
Listening with less effort
Better speech understanding in background noise
Detect the correct location of sounds
Respond more naturally
Better sound quality
Today’s hearing aids are designed to support hearing from both sides. Binaural technology enables these devices left and right to communicate with each other wirelessly and compare information.
It can also help to preserve your hearing – even if the one side is significantly, better than the other, it is essential to treat both ears.
The ear left untreated progressively gets worse over time. This condition is known as auditory deprivation. In short, this means that your unaided ear’s performance will diminish over time due to a lack of stimulation.
